A Journalist’s Journey with Our Beloved Maebuab

At Bush Camp, our hearts are truly touched by every elephant that finds a safe haven with us. Each of them has a unique story, and meeting them is an experience that resonates deeply with all our visitors. We were particularly thrilled recently when Sasha Wood, a journalist from TTG Luxury, joined us to learn more about our mission and meet our gentle giants.

One of the stars of her visit was undoubtedly Maebuab, our cherished 36-year-old elephant. It always brings a smile to our faces to watch Maebuab’s delight when a fresh pineapple is offered – she truly has a sweet tooth, and an uncanny ability to sniff out the ripest ones! Maebuab, like many of our elephants, came to us after facing circumstances that made survival in the wild challenging. Providing her and others with a safe, caring, and stimulating environment is at the very core of what we do here. It’s a privilege to see them thrive, forming strong bonds with their mahouts and living out their days in peace.

Sasha spent valuable time with Maebuab and our other elephants, witnessing firsthand the dedication of our team and the incredible intelligence and gentle nature of these magnificent creatures. We believe that by sharing these personal encounters, we can foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for elephant conservation.

Her journey extended beyond the elephant encounters to embrace the full “soul-soothing, tri-centre” experience we offer here in northern Thailand. We were delighted to showcase the harmony between our conservation efforts and the immersive cultural and culinary adventures available to our guests.
