The Bush Camp Chiang Mai Joins the Opening Ceremony of the New Elephant Hospital Building

the New Elephant Hospital Building

On 26 September 2026, The Bush Camp Chiang Mai was honoured to join the opening ceremony of the new Elephant Hospital Building at the Elephant and Wildlife Health Care Center, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University, in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai.

Veterinarian Thanaphum, together with representatives of The Bush Camp’s management team, attended the ceremony and took part in a tree-planting activity around the new building, marking this meaningful milestone for elephant healthcare in Northern Thailand.

As part of our ongoing commitment to elephant welfare, The Bush Camp Chiang Mai has also contributed through donations and continued cooperation in support of the Elephant Hospital and its development. We are proud to play a part in supporting initiatives that help strengthen veterinary care and improve access to medical services for elephants in the region.

Once fully operational, the new facility will be able to accommodate at least six critically ill elephants at the same time, with medical equipment, supplies, and emergency care systems in place to support urgent cases and improve access to veterinary care for elephants in Northern Thailand.

Beyond medical treatment, the hospital is also envisioned as a centre for education, practical training, and research for veterinary students and veterinarians from Thailand and abroad. Its work will cover elephant health, diseases, welfare, reproduction, behaviour, and management, helping to develop knowledge and expertise while contributing to higher standards of elephant care in Thailand for years to come.
